A MEMORY

I have been living in Canada for about 34 years. Spring comes late here. The trees bloom at the end of May. There is only one tree, like our snowdrop... It blooms at the end of April. Even at minus temperatures, its flowers bloom when the time comes.
 About 25 years ago, I went to a restaurant for lunch on a Saturday. The weather is nice, plus 14 degrees. It's the first week of May. There are many of them in the city, it's a short tree with wide canopies. Its flowers bloomed so beautifully... I broke a branch from the tree and took it to the restaurant in my hand. It was a restaurant I went to frequently. Saturdays are chicken wings and beer days. I used to stop by once every two weeks. The waitresses knew me and greeted me with a smile every time I went. When the university student girls saw the flower in my hand, they did not greet me with a smile. I sat outside on the balcony. I ordered beer and chicken wings. Those sitting on the balcony also looked towards the flower, I couldn't understand. One of the waiters or one of the customers must have called and 20 minutes passed and the flower was on the table. The municipality's environmental protection car arrived and parked. A man around 35 years old came out and came towards me with a smile. He looked at the flower on the table. Politely, “Will you take that flower and come to my car?” said. Then I understood. It is forbidden to break this flower with its branch. "Do you want to go to court or should I give you a fine?" he said. I said, “How much is the fine?” He took out a meter and measured the length of the branch. Approx. 40cm. “I will write 40 dollars,” he said and wrote. I paid $40 to the municipality on Monday.
 A Canadian who does not touch the branch of his own tree is flattening our Kaz Mountains. It also kills nature. Moreover, it searches for gold with cyanide and threatens human health. They impose fines for 40 cm tree branches. What about our mountains!
